  • Osteopath West London, Cranial Osteopath Chiswick

Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual therapy that aims to improve health across all body systems by manipulating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework. An osteopathic physician will focus on the joints, muscles, and spine. Treatment aims to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems. Manual medicine means that both diagnosis and treatment are carried out with the hands.

Majority of us have been exposed to physical trauma or stresses throughout our life. The body is usually capable of dealing with these strains, however sometimes they can accumulate and this may lead to pain and dysfunction.Cranial osteopathy is a gentle and subtle form of osteopathic treatment that uses soft manipulative pressure to encourage the release of stresses throughout the body, especially the head and sacrum.

Many people approach an osteopathic physician with back pain, but preventive treatment is also possible. Osteopathic treatments can positively impact the nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems, to improve body function and overall health. Osteopathy was founded by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, during the American Civil War. Dr. Still realized that his patients' health was affected by the way they used their bodies and that the mainstream medical approach was not always effective. In 1874, he formed a new method of treatment that used spinal and peripheral manipulation, which he called Osteopathy. In 1892, the first Osteopathic school was opened in Kirksville, Missouri, where Dr. Still worked as a principal and tutor. In 1917, Dr. Martin Littlejohn, a student of Dr. Still’s opened the first English school of osteopathy.

The primary outcome is the reduction of pain in acute and chronic conditions. The secondary outcomes are efficacy of rehabilitation, recovery of function, and quality of life.

Mesotherapy is also natural alternative to invasive cosmetic procedures. The Mesolift process delivers vitamins, minerals and amino acids directly into the skin to nourish and rejuvenate. It also promotes production of collagen and elastin, and stimulates the body’s metabolism.
