My philosophy

I believe that a patient’s history of illness and physical trauma is written in the body’s structure. I also believe in individual patient-centered care to assess and determine the root cause of each patient's illness, and assist in eradicating its origin. Treatment may consist of any one or a combination of the therapies in which I am trained, but you may also be referred to another health practitioner if that is what is needed to treat the root cause.

Distinguishing between a true diagnosis and a syndrome is important.
A true diagnosis is when the cause of the illness has been found. A positive blood sample might for example confirm a streptococcus infection. A syndrome however has no clear origin, but rather is a category into which a patient falls. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is an example, in which the bowel has shown irritation but the cause is undetermined. I believe that a variety of causes lead to each patient's current condition. These causes might include allergens, unresolved pathogenic infections, inability of the body to break down, absorb and utilize nutrients, insufficient elimination of waste, nutritional deficiency, hormonal imbalances and emotional stress, all which add up to a body experiencing disease.

My training at The British College of Osteopathic Medicine has helped me to develop highly sensitive palpatory skills to sense flow of fluids, motion and texture of tissues, and structural make-up.
I aim to make you feel very comfortable when visiting me. By virtue of my comprehensive, hands-on, integrative osteopathic training, I tend to spend a relatively long time, perhaps up to 45 minutes, at the first consultation to understand and begin to resolve the physical problem. I enjoy listening to my patients; I will ask a lot of questions. This is called the 'case history'. That is followed by a brief physical examination to focus on the specific physical problems or complaints that a patient has brought up. Afterwards, we will discuss a tentative diagnosis or diagnoses for which I will offer a plan of action.

I believe that the mind, body and spirit work together. I think that as one thinks positive or negative thoughts, the body releases chemicals accordingly, and thus I believe that having a positive mental attitude increases our chances of living a better, healthier life.
